We are very happy to introduce a new case report to you. Nicolas was diagnosed with autism at age two. His parents have used several interventions over the years since then. As the time approached for him to begin middle school, his mother wanted him to be better prepared to succeed, both academically and socially. Mom felt that Nicholas needed a breakthrough which would help him to thrive in mainstream classes and to engage more with his classmates, friends and family.
His physician is Allen T. Lewis, M.D., who is Founder of the Sancta Familia Center for Integrative Medicine, and the newest member of our Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Lewis recommended that Nicholas begin using The Listening Program® ACHIEVE, with the Waves™ Bone Conduction Audio System. He listened at home, under the guidance of TLP Certified provider Angela Woodward.
This Case Report details the first three months of Nicholas’s listening. It includes both pre-and post-screening results, and extensive notes from three months of monitoring calls between his Mom and Angela Woodward. He made significant progress during that time and continues to listen so that he can make additional new gains.
Families can get a sense of some things they might expect if they use The Listening Program as part of their child’s therapy, when they have a chance to read a Case Report such as this. Results will vary from one patient to another, based on a multitude of factors but changes can occur within a short time when parents are consistent about following their child’s listening schedule. If they regularly take notes when they first observe something new, as this Mom did, they are likely to perceive some of the more subtle shifts that can occur while using TLP.
We appreciate Nicholas’s family, Dr. Lewis, and TLP Provider Angela Woodward, for sharing this Case Report with you all. We look forward to hearing updates about Nicholas in the future.
