One of our favorite things to do here at Advanced Brain Technologies (ABT) is to share the success stories of not only our TLP listeners, but also our TLP Certified Providers!
Recently, a vision came to fruition in the form of a ribbon cutting ceremony at Integrated Autism Therapies (IAT), a new sensory clinic in West Jordan, Utah. After many years of hard work, Barb Niederhauser, a TLP Certified Provider, and her husband Mark, were able to open this clinic to benefit their own family’s needs as well as providing services for many other families.
When their son Devon, regressed around 18 months of age and was diagnosed with severe autism, the Niederhausers quickly learned the difficult realities of trying to get answers, and find treatment for him. As they attempted to meet all Devon’s needs, they found themselves traveling to many locations weekly for a variety of health, therapy, and behavioral services.
Barb and Mark were introduced to The Listening Program®(TLP) by Devon’s occupational therapist in 2008. The program was simple to do and provided noticeable improvements in Devon’s coordination and comprehensive language. Devon also enjoyed the supplemental music of Sound Health. Devon has used TLP or Sound Health almost daily for over a decade! He requests Music to De-Stress when sitting for his weekly IVIg treatments and for doctor visits. Through the encouragement of the OT, Barb became certified as a TLP provider!
Barb loves incorporating TLP and Sound Health into their programs at IAT because they are very effective and accessible in different formats. This allows them to easily integrate it into daily therapy sessions. Barb found the programs and services provided by Advanced Brain Technologies are impactful enough that she has also had her staff OT and SLP become certified TLP providers.
Last fall, Fun Factory Sensory Gyms built a large sensory clinic at IAT to enable them to better integrate services for their clientele, incorporate a sensory diet into daily services, and provide opportunities for social interactions. The sensory gym is now open and has adaptive equipment, including zip lines, swings, rock climbing walls, and an interactive play mall, as well as individual therapy rooms and more, in a safe and judgment free environment. They even host weekend open play hours, field trips, as well as private parties.We congratulate Barb, Mark and the whole staff of Integrated Autism Therapy and look forward to their continued success!
