Sheila Allen, MA, OT is an internationally recognized, licensed occupational therapist whose practice offers consultation, teaching, and coaching.

Sheila’s professional profile includes extensive focus in sensory processing and in blending sensory integration perspectives, principles, and treatment techniques with social/emotional, motor/physical, and cognitive approaches across the lifespan. She holds a deep interest in the relationship between sound, physiology, movement, and behavior. Her long-standing appreciation for the value of sound and music in fostering change and supporting function continues to be central to her work in intervention, product development, teaching, consultation, and study.

A founding faculty member and trusted advisor at Advanced Brain Technologies, Sheila has played a central role in the development of The Listening Program. She co-created TLP inTime, contributed extensively to the provider certification course, and helped lead the integration of bone-conducted sound into therapeutic practice. She also serves on the company’s scientific advisory board, contributes to product development, and supports certified professionals worldwide.

For more than three decades, Sheila co-directed Pediatric Therapeutics, a highly regarded pediatric therapy center that she co-founded in Chatham, New Jersey. There, she provided both clinic-based and telehealth services while collaborating with schools, hospitals, and interdisciplinary teams to design and implement individual and group programs. Earlier in her career, she worked at Children’s Specialized Hospital and in public and private school settings.

Sheila has presented internationally, taught at The Bank Street School in New York City, and supervised numerous occupational therapy fieldwork students. Her leadership extends beyond clinical settings through her volunteer work. She founded and continues to actively support a professional development initiative for preschool teachers and daycare providers in Central Eleuthera, Bahamas. She also serves on the boards of KIDS’ RehabGYM, The Alexis Foundation, and The Windermere Foundation, and participates in the Northeast Disabled Athletic Association’s adaptive kayaking program.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Utica College of Syracuse University and a Master of Arts in Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University.
