Over a decade of research conducted in several schools in the United Kingdom shows the impact The Movement Program can have on reading comprehension and concentration as well as balance and coordination, resulting in improvements in sports performance, timing and rhythmic ability, reading skills, and exam scores.

The Movement Program is a complementary learning tool. It has not been evaluated for the Food and Drug Administration. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
The Leigh Academies Trust has spent many years researching the effect of coordinated movement programmes that we know make a very significant improvement in reading and also the ability to concentrate. As CEO, I helped to drive the programme and was convinced of its efficacy for all children, especially those aged between 8 and 13. I am delighted to offer my support in bringing this to a wider audience.

We’ve now been delivering The Movement Program for four years and feel very committed to it. It is very exciting to see students’ focus and witness the impressive progress that students of all abilities make in their reading ages. Along with other reading initiatives in school, it is probably the biggest marker of students’ future success.

Improve Reading & Concentration

Reading is a skill that needs practice. However, many students have not developed the basic sensory processing, timing, and focusing skills to be able to concentrate at length as they decode words and skim, scan, or read for detail. The Movement Program offers a unique way to help develop the foundational skills for reading and attention that can’t be achieved by simply undertaking extra reading. The benefits of The Movement Program can not only impact reading and attention, but they can also lead to wide ranging improvements in timing and rhythm needed for coordinated movement in sports and in other common physical activities.
